What our customers are saying about us
We came late in the day and they’d had a busy day and run out of a lot of the menu, despite this, the chef Gaz was amazingly accommodating and came over to the table to talk though what he could make. My girlfriend is gluten free and he even made some gluten free onion rings out of nowhere to go with our meals as a free bonus. What a guy! Nice atmosphere, nice people and they really understand whathospitality is.

Travelled from Newcastle to stay in the village for access to York. We visited the blacksmiths Arms on the Friday night for some dinner which was lovely. I had the creamy cajun chicken and my partner had a Stilton burger. Both means were well cooked and tasty. The second night we just went for some drinks. We got talking to the barmaid Naomi who made our night and had great conversation. She definitely made our last visit of the trip worthwhile. We shall be back again some point next year.

My partner, me, our friend and our five dogs had a lovely time at The Blacksmiths Arms this afternoon. We all enjoyed the excellent carvery, with a great selection on offer and every item perfectly cooked. The beef and the cauliflower cheese were dtand out elements. Service was excellent, the atmosphere in the bar was really warm and convivial, with a real feel of belonging to the community which you only get in an independent pub. We loved being able to sit in the large sunny beer garden with good drinks and excellent food. Highly recommended!

Anthony the host is fantastic, his attention to absolute detail is brilliant. Sunday Dinner was spot on, best in York by a country mile. Superb place to eat.
